Life at home and visiting family. Summer back at school. A look forward into Year 2.
In the second year of the PhD, Physics grad students fill out the remaining class requirements while getting a little more stratified in their research interests. Most students select an advisor and begin working on a small project.
Outside these academic pursuits, I used the year to explore more of California's urban and natural wonders, to expand on my growing interest in competitive Melee, and to start a new relationship.

A new Davis apartment, ready to host friends for Pumpkin Carving. A new relationship.
January 2019
Escaping the wildfires with a Thanksgiving trip to NC. Snow in Lake Tahoe, and (pre-)Christmas in the Caribbean.
March 2019
I visit LA, give myself a progress report, eat a bunch of sushi, and attend Genesis 6. I turn 24.
May 2019
A whirlwind-tour of CA for spring break; Davis Picnic Day, round 2; Passover with Darcy's family and friends; some competitive progress.
July 2019
Movies at Ronaldo's! I celebrate the end of another academic year with a trip home, then to Paris.
